Year One in Review
Journal Highlights and Milestones
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
As we begin 2026, I am pleased to share a brief overview of the journal’s progress during its first year of publication. Launching a new, highly specialized, niche journal is always a challenge, and the achievements of this inaugural year reflect the strong support of our authors, reviewers, and editorial board.

Visibility and Readership
In our first year, the journal recorded 9,247 website visits, demonstrating encouraging global interest and engagement within the pediatric interventional pulmonology community and related disciplines.
Submissions and Publications
Total submissions received: 14
Acceptance rate: 64%
Overall rejection rate: 36%

Where our readers came from
Editorial Performance
One of our key priorities has been efficiency without compromising quality:
Median time to first editorial decision: 2 days
Median time to acceptance: 30 days
These figures reflect a selective yet supportive editorial approach appropriate for a new, highly specialized journal.
Article Engagement Highlights
Several publications have already demonstrated strong readership:
Madhusudan et al. – 1,401 engagements
Dutau et al. – 1,159 engagements
Yılmaz et al. – 1,029 engagements
Stafler et al. – 833 engagements
These early metrics underscore the relevance of the journal’s content and its growing impact.
What We’ve Achieved Together
In 2025, your enthusiasm and engagement have helped us:
Launch the journal and attract high-quality submissions from around the world
Develop an educational series with expert-led webinars
Collaborate with PILCA to offer practical and engaging case discussions
Build a global network of more than 260 registered readers, contributors, and supporters
Connect in person through group meetings and community events at the EABIP Congress in Lisbon and the INSPiRED Congress in Barcelona
Looking Ahead
Our first year has established a solid foundation built on efficient and transparent editorial processes, high-quality, clinically relevant publications, and growing international visibility.
On behalf of the editorial team, I would like to sincerely thank all authors, reviewers, and readers for their trust and contributions. We look forward to your continued support as the journal enters its second year.
Looking ahead, we aim to go beyond being a specialized journal and to serve as the central hub of pediatric interventional pulmonology, fostering collaboration, education, innovation, and global exchange.
And finally, we would like to extend our warmest wishes to you and your families for a happy, healthy, and successful New Year!
Sincerely,
Matej Šapina, MD, PhD
